Harvey House Restaurant

Located within the baggage house of a historic former train depot in Madison, Wisconsin, Harvey House transforms a long-vacant railroad building into a restaurant informed by the traditions of the Wisconsin supper club and the golden age of American rail travel. Rather than recreating history, the design builds upon the building's remarkable existing character, preserving original brick walls and historic windows while introducing contemporary interventions with warmth and restraint.

A restored passenger railcar was converted into an intimate private dining room, where custom millwork, tailored furnishings, and carefully considered detailing recall the craftsmanship of historic dining cars. Throughout the project, rich woods, elegant metalwork, and layered lighting create interiors that feel welcoming and timeless, celebrating the building's past while supporting a vibrant dining experience rooted in Midwestern hospitality.

Harvey House was named the as one of Robb Report’s “10 Most Beautiful Restaurants That Opened in the US in 2021” and was featured in Dezeen.
